The University of Athens, in order to ensure the catering of meals to its students, currently operates four restaurants: The restaurant in the School of Philosophy, which serves students who attend classes at the University Campus, the restaurant in Goudi, which serves students in the Health Sciences, the restaurant in Daphni, which serves students attending the School of Physical Education and Sport Science and the restaurant at 14 Lykavittou Street which serves students attending classes in the Centre of Athens.
For students attending the Departments of the Evripos Complex, in Psachna Evia, there is a student restaurant operating inside its facilities.
Student restaurants are open: Daily from 12:00 to 16:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00. During weekends they are open from 13:00 to 20:00.
The menu includes one first course and a choice from two main courses. The weekly menu (lunch-dinner) is posted in the restaurants at the start of each week.
We should note here that responsible for the operation of the university restaurants is the contractor restaurateur, who is responsible for their operation following an International Open Tender.
The company that undertakes the operation of the restaurants complies both with European specifications and the terms and conditions laid down by the University. To ensure proper compliance with the terms of the contract, the University appoints committees that carry out regular or extraordinary inspections, at regular intervals, in order to determine the cleanliness, the quantity and the quality of the portions, etc. The inspections carried out by the University are independent of the inspections carried out by the competent government agencies (Market Law, Public Health Service, etc.). To further ensure the quality of the services provided, the restaurant staff always includes a specialised member performing similar checks on a daily basis.
